Kindergarten Science 101

Some of you know I'm a homeschooler and you've asked what we do. Olivia and I want to post some of the things that we do.

Here is a tomato hornworm that Olivia found on a bell pepper plant in our garden (I thought they only ate tomato plants, obviously not). She's been wanting to find a caterpillar on a plant so we would know what it eats and could capture it. We'll keep you posted and hopefully show you the moth or butterfly it becomes (I think moth). Just in case you wanted to know this caterpillar has really big poop. We'll post a picture if I get a good one. It's disgusting!
A lot of our homeschooling comes from the Bible, Library books, our garden, goats and conversations that we have. She loves science and arts and crafts. She knows her alphabet and the sounds of each letter and can write each letter. She's not quite reading, but probably will by the end of the year. We try to memorize a bible verse each week. This year I really want her to learn all the well known Bible stories.
I put the picture of the orange on here because a month ago she asked how a flower because a vegetable or fruit. I did not know, but we found out in a library book. In case you do not know how this happens; the insects take the pollen from one flower and take it to the ovule of another. As the seed swells and grows, the fruit around the seed also swells and grows.
I'm learning a lot in Kindergarten!
